Three local libraries are hosting Harry Potter Book Nights to celebrate the magical 25th anniversary of the much-loved books.
There will be dramatic readings, a scavenger hunt around the libraries and a super quiz.
Events will be held from January 31 until February 5 at 17 library locations across the East Riding. At Snaith and Goole libraries it will be on February 3, and Howden library on February 2.
Librarian Jess McCarthy said: “We are so excited to be bringing Harry Potter Book Night back to our branch libraries this year and we think everyone will really enjoy the theme of magical journeys. The 25th anniversary has renewed the buzz around the whole world of Harry Potter and we hope to bring it alive for not only the ardent fans, but those new to the series too.”
Librarian Kimberley Harston added: “We love to see fancy dress and memorabilia from those who attend and we can’t wait to hear all about what you love about the books, characters and movies and why! Celebrating 25 years since we were first introduced to Harry’s wonderful wizarding world, this one is set to be extra special and is certainly not to be missed.”
The event is most suitable for primary school children. Tickets are £5 per child.
Children under eight must be accompanied by an adult (accompanying adults do NOT need to book a place).

June will bring more themed events, where there will be more anniversary celebrations of this magical series.
